Ask anyone who has lived in Queen Creek for a while and they will tell you: fall is the payoff. The brutal summer heat finally lets go, the evenings turn perfect, and the whole town moves back outside. Here is how to make the most of it.
The farms go all out
Fall is when Schnepf Farms shines. Each October the farm throws its month-long Pumpkin & Chili Party, with corn mazes, rides, food, and a petting zoo. It is a fourth-generation family farm and a genuine Queen Creek tradition, the kind of place where families take the same photo every year. Bring the kids, bring your appetite, and save room for something from the bakery.
It is also harvest season, so it is a great time to pick up fresh produce and pies and lean into the farm-town side of Queen Creek.
Trails you can actually enjoy
In summer, hiking here is a sunrise-only sport. Come fall, San Tan Mountain Regional Park opens back up for the rest of us. With more than eight miles of trails from easy to strenuous, it is worth picking a cooler morning and finally tackling a longer route.
Long evenings at the park
Cooler nights make the parks the place to be. Mansel Carter Oasis Park with its lake, splash pad, and open fields is built for the kind of slow weekend evening fall makes possible. Pack a dinner, bring a ball, and stay until the sun drops.
Plan ahead
Fall is the busy season, and event dates and hours shift year to year, so check each spot’s website before you go, especially for Schnepf Farms’ fall event. Weekends fill up fast once the weather turns.
However you spend it, fall is the season Queen Creek was made for. If you are settling in or running a business here, it is also the best time of year to get out, meet your neighbors, and remember why you chose this town. Need a trusted local pro while you are at it? Start with our member directory.
